Today's page is fresh out of Manga Studio 5! And I haven't even started coloring Thursday's page. O_O

In other news, my sister had to stay in the hospital longer than expected. It was taking a while for her parathyroid to "wake" up and regulate her calcium levels, but she is coming home today. You also know the quote, "When it rains, it pours"? I have been battling a terrible ear infection for several days now, which has slowed me down even more. I'm also thinking about postponing next week's updates so I don't feel rushed completing them. But I'll be playing it by ear (the good ear, that is).

Sometimes I wonder if I might have a thyroid problem too because I feel hyper all the time.
Hope your sis gets better.

Another cool update.
I wonder who that skull belonged too.
aok666 20th May 2014, 2:46 PM edit delete reply
Hyperactivity is only one of the many symptoms of hyperthyroidism (aka thyrotoxicosis). If you don't have other symptoms such as insomnia, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat even at rest), tremors, fatigue, heat intolerance, unexplained weight loss, polydypsia (excessive thirst), etc., then I very much doubt that it's hyperthyroidism.
Hyperactivity's a symptom of various other conditions too - if you're concerned, talk to your doctor.

You again.
Ok. Thanks for the in depth informational lecture about hyperthyroidism. I suppose I can count on your little unwanted interjections now every time I make a comment about anything in your, er I mean this webcomic.

For your information, I do have an appointment scheduled with a doctor in which I plan on talking to him about my thyroid which I am sure should make you feel relieved since you seem so genuinely concerned about my health. And by the way, I have everyone of those symptoms except for the weight loss. Now, unless you are an actual doctor yourself, I think there might be a very good chance I could have (thyrotoxicosis) instead of your internet diagnosis which was "I very much doubt that it's hyperthyroidism." That's amazing how you can diagnosis a person you have never even met just by reading their comments over the internet like that.

And lastly, FYI I will comment here about anything I feel like commenting about. So be prepared to cut and paste from Wikipedia many more times in the future and polish your up your condescending hostile attitude towards me.

Just from an outside perspective - aok666 uses the words "you" & "you're" once each. One could easily replace them with variants of "one", and even if one doesn't, it seems like a brief objective comment. I certainly didn't notice any hostile or attack language.

aok666's diagnosis of my condition was unnecessary and based on pure conjecture.
aok666 also seems to suggest some other cause other than physical which is also conjecture and therefore rude in my opinion. Lastly, his trolling and criticism of my comments here on this web comic are harassing to me.
But this is all a lesson to me and reminds me that if you express yourself anywhere on the internet, then be prepared for a barrage of criticism.
You wouldn't happen to be a friend of aok666 would you?

Her, and she's pretty damn smart. I'm also fairly certain that this sort of thing falls directly into her field of study. If it was cut and pasted from Wikipedia, I'm guessing that it was to save time.

I do understand that you are feeling condescended to, but there are better ways to resolve it than this.

Hopefully you can both resolve this without a blowout on someone else's comic comments.

Thank you :-) *embarrassed smile - i.e. the one with the tendency to be mistaken for a smirk/sneer* It's very kind of you to stick up for me.

I know I shouldn't do this because you are obviously good friends with the site creator here, but here goes.
If someone makes unwanted and unnecessary replies to your comments then what is the "better way to resolve it"?
All I did was state my position on the matter in the hopes that it would prevent further unwanted and unnecessary responses from aok666 in the future. How is this so wrong?
And isn't your opinion biased to begin with since you are friends with aok666?
Also, if you wanted to protect the sanctity of this person's web comic like you claim, then why would you even get involved by commenting multiple times?
There is only one reason. You are defending your friend. Period.
I realize that you feel comicfury is your home, and I am not trying to harm it or your friends, but it is simply not polite when someone, even if they are your friend, gives a complete stranger unwanted medical advice based on conjecture about their condition.
Please try and rise above your emotions and see the truth in that statement.
Thank you.
aok666 22nd May 2014, 3:20 PM edit delete reply
I only comment on your health-related comments, if I spot a misunderstanding. I'd do the same for anyone :-)
aok666 22nd May 2014, 3:16 PM edit delete reply
Glad to hear that you're seeking professional advice! Much more reliable than anyone on the Internet :-) I was worried - self-diagnosis is a dangerous thing
I didn't presume to diagnose you, merely to offer some additional information. Which was, incidentally, copied from my old lecture notes. If my professors used Wikipedia, shame on them :-)
Sorry if my comments sound condescending. Tone is quite difficult to convey in a text-only format.
Get well soon!

Thank you. Your response seems very logical, but I have to say that I don't think it is your place to go around giving strangers on the internet medical advice.
Incidentally, that statement makes me a hypocrite based on the comments I made earlier about the fungus candida which started this whole debacle.
If you are honest with yourself, you will admit that it probably angered you that I would even bring up what you believe to be bogus science in a situation that is very serious and emotional for the author of this web comic. That is why I apologized for making my claim that there was a link between cancer and candida and I will try to never do anything like that again.
However, I still think your comments about my thyroid were indeed a type of diagnosis, and it just really bothers me that I have no clue who you are and you are telling me to see a doctor if I'm concerned about my condition, when you don't even know that I have been seeing a doctor for quite sometime trying to get to the bottom of a problem that is very serious to me. So yes, it did come off as condescending and as an attack on my credibility.
Having said that, I feel better now and I will shut up.
I also sincerely apologize to the author of Monstersoup for all this.
I love your comic and I hope I can return as welcome guest.
aok666 24th May 2014, 7:16 AM edit delete reply
Thank you. You're welcome :-)
I have also been seeing a doctor for some time seeking a diagnosis regarding my own hyperactivity, hence my concern (since mine had nothing to do with my thyroid). Good luck with yours :-)

(My apologies also to TheGhost for this heated debate on your lovely comic's comments. I think we all got a little carried away here.)

Wow. No kidding about the rain bit. Man, well, I hope you feel better and I pray that your sister does too. Things will get better, I promise. Sometimes, life just sucks. But, you're an incredible artist if that helps :3. And, you have great taste in art programs. ;)

I hope you feel better soon, and if taking a break for one week is what you need to get better, I'll have no problems with no updates :)

Also, Whose skull is that? :D

I think it's hers! Honestly, if Luke breaks her, I'm going to be spending the rest of the comic hoping that someone takes him out. She's my favourite character!

I've had first-hand experiance with that expression that entire time! XD
Anyway, good to hear your sister is moving to more familliar surroundings. Hospitals aren't the most relaxing of places.
